Cheerful down under ~~~

~ A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition, William Arthur Ward ~

I just heard on BBC world news, that the Australian people who are up to their ears in flood waters are sanguine, (cheerfully optimistic). Easy for the reporter to say eh! I hope that the waters recede soon.

Sunny disposition

French words
Sang, blood
sanglot, sob
sanguine, blood test, ruddy colour.

Etymology for sanguine

Some may be, but certainly not the woman sobbing into the camera on the news the other day having just lost everything. I hope the waters recede, too. It just isn't cricket, is it? (oops!) Wasn't it forest fires this time last year?
It's nice to know the meaning of sanguine after all these years. Thanks, Blu.
