Today 31st October according to my calendar purchased from the postman, is St Quentins day. Amazing that he could become a Saint when no real details are known about his life. He was a Roman, martyred in Gaul. He settled in Amiens in France, here follows the usual story of performing miracles, being repeatedly tortured, beheaded, and his corpse thrown into the marshes.
FIFTY FIVE years later a BLIND woman from Rome travels to France and finds his remains, actually it says they arose from the water with an odour of santicty. She buries the body and builds a small chapel! Of course later these bones are made a Saint!
Tall Stories to tell
No wonder I find this story to be a bit of a supercherie!
Supercherie means hocus pocus, deception, hoax, fake, sham.
Some French synonymns, tromperie, duperie, imposture, tricherie, ruse.

I enjoyed your photo of the tall trees to end the story :-)
Great inage and story :)
Lovely shot - and interesting story.
Thanks ladies.
Tall stories rang a bell with me because I've started NaNoWriMo today and all sorts of stuff is coming out in that initial free-for-all on the keyboard.
Really enjoyed the Wordsworth poem, too!
Thanks for the visit Montyandrosie
